SALE OF TROTTING STOCK. By Telegraph—Press Association. HASTINGS, Jan. 19. The sale of the late Mr B. Shadbolt’s trotting stock was largely attended, representatives of all parts of the Dominion and of Australia being present. Every lot was sold under the hammer. 1 The trotting stallion Native King was bought by Mr Peter Shadbolt for 800 guineas. Huia Dillon brought lOOgns; brood mares realised from 12- to 52gns, three-year-olds 17 to 71gns, two-year-old 31 to 54gns. Fillies and colts by Native King realised from 22 to 91gns. The bay gelding Reindeer at 115gns, and the bay mares Miss Moore 30gns and Muriel Stair 50gns, went to Australia.

There will be racing' to-day at Trentham, Foxton, and Wairio. Innisfallen, who now races in the same ownership as the pacer Royal Step, yan second in the Hunters’ Hurdles at the Birchwood Hunt meeting on Wednesday, and later won the Hunters’ Flat, of 70 sovs, by 60 yards. Probable riders in the Wellington Cup are as follows:—Scion, M. McCarten; Cupidon, G. Young; Insurrection, A. Reed; Sunart, J. Barry; Kick Off, W. Bell;, Deucalion, F. E. Jones; Trespass, Li. G. Morris; Rapine, R. Reed; Palestrina, P. Keene; Muraahi, E. Keesing; Merry Day, E. Garrett; Roseday, A. Wilson; Scrimmage, H. Wiggins. On the second day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting an inquiry was held into the running of Wild Hebe, but was adjourned to allow veterinary evidence to be heard. At the adjourned meeting on Tuesday the owner (J. McTaggart) was disqualified for nine months and the horse and driver (F. J. Owen) for six months.
