TIMARU PRESBYTERY.

INDUCTION AT MORVEN,

The Timara Presbytery met at Morven Church on Tuesday evening for the purpose of ordaining and inducting the Rev. F. R. Charman into the pastoral charge of Morven congregation. The Rev. F. J. Usher, of St. Andrews, acted as Moderator, in the absence of the Rev. J. W. Wilson, of Waimate, and there were also present the Revs. J. D. Madill (Geraldine) and W. F. Findlay (Highfield), and Messrs Scott (Waihao Downs), and G. Steven (Chalmers). The Presbytery met at 7 p.m., and after a short session adjourned to the church, where a large congregation had assembled in spite of the wet evening. The gathering was a very representative one, members being present from Glenavy, Tawai, Willowbridge, and Morven. After the Rev. F. R.’ Charman had been solemnly ordained and inducted by the Moderator, addresses were given by the Revs. Usher, Findlay, and Madill. The new minister then was introduced to his jparisßioners, and given a very hearty welcome by all present. The company thfen adjourned to the Morven Public Hall, where the ladies of the congregation provided a splendid supper. ishort speeches of welcome were made by members of the Presbytery, Morven session and managers, ministers from other congreations, friends from • Waimate, fellow-students of the Rev. F. R. Charman from. Canterbury College and from ICnoS College (Dunedin), as well as by representatives _of all the organisations connected with the Mofven congregation. The members of the Presbytery als<? visited the fine new brick manse, which came in for high commendation.

The Rev. F. R. Cllarman has commenced his pastorate in Morven under most auspicious circumstances, and his friends unite in wishing him a happy and useful career. The members of the Timaru Presbytery were most hospitably entertained by Messrs Hay senr. and Hay junior.
