The Workisop Club, a majority of whose team are working miners, achieved fame and prosperity by defeating Tottenham Hotspur by 9 goals to nil in a replayed match. They received £IOOO from the gate, which will relieve the club from longstanding financial difficulties. The team had to borrow money for their fares to London.
