Osborne (Dannevirko; 90 2. Trombono trios— Palmerston North, 9G, 1; Hamilton, 95, 2; Hastings, 94, 3: Marten, '93/ 4. E flat soprano cornet solo —W. L. Francis (Palmerston North), 97, 1; Harding (Mastcrton). 96, 2; L. Sirnonsen (Hastings). 94, 3. Later. The North Inland Brass Band B Grade contest continued to-day. Tho military and two-step competition being decided in the afternoon in tho presence of a big crowd of spectators. Result: Marten 251 £■ points 1, Dannevirka 251} (mints, 2, Palmerston North 246} 3, Hamilton 24.5} 4 Temperance Guards Auckland, 237} 5, Hustings 2853 6, Auckland. Defence 227} 7. The annual meeting of the North Island Brass Bands’ Association expressed thanks to Da’nnevirke for taking up and running the contest at such short notice. Twenty-five Bands are now affiliated, ' and the balance shoot showed a credit of £6l 19s 3d. Tho election- of officers resulted : President, Mr R. L. Cohen; vice-presi-dents, about 40, including Sir George Hunter, M.P., Mr A. MoNicol M.P., and Mr G. Anderson, Mayor of Dannevirko; treasurer, Mr J. J. Meule. Wanganui: 'secretary, Mr F. G. Scddon, Wanganui; Executive, Sergt-MajorAn-derson (Wanganui). Messrs Wansborough (Marten), Herd (Wellington). Jupp (Wellington), Ilollieii (Palmerston North), Trussed ('Wanganui'), Williamson (Auckland), McConnell (Napier), K. i Humphries (Wanganui), Cnttelky (Now Plymouth). Applications were received from New Plymouth, Wellington, Whangarei and Auckland for. tho next contest. A bailor, between and Auckland resulted .in Wellington being chosen. Tho advisability of holding one contest alternatively in North and South Islands was loft to the Executive to discuss . and _ confer with the South 'lsland Association.
