MR GREENE TO LEAVE TIAIARU. Air \V. Greene, for so many years Timaru’s leading artist, has been offered, and haS decided' to "accept, the position of Lecturer on Art in the Teachers’ (Training College, Christchurch. The position- is a- very important one, and to judge from tho advertised .schedule of duties, an °ntirely now departure has ,been made in art teaching in New Zealand. Apparently it is the intention of the Department to bring the aesthetic side of education into line with the literary and the scientific'. Thus Air Greene will be not only a drawing and painting master; but a lecturer on painters and painting and- art subjects generally. In addition, lie will supervise- as fur as possible the methods of teaching drawing in the public schools. As the Training College opens almost immediately, Mr Greene will leave for Christchurch at an early d a te—probably. In nhpnt a fortnight.
