NEW FREEZING WORKS
THE FARMERS 1 ' CO-OPERATIVE COMPANY.. The new Farmers' Co-operative Freezing Company continues to receive very substantial support from the farmers in South Canterbury. The share list is increasing daily, and it is reported that over 700 farmers have joined the company to date and that many more have promised to accord their support to the project. Farmers are realising that companies tliat control freezing space are making handsome profits-. It is also being recognised that with the prospect of new markets being _ opened up for Frozen meat, accompanied probably by enhano ed prices, the ownership of free-zing, with full control of space, should be vested in" producers. The opinion ia also "being expressed that, as the Washdyke project has already met with so much support, it would be. in the interests of all concerned to aim at establishing one strong farmers' company, owning works of sufficient capacity to cater for the requirements of the whole of South Canterbury.
