SCOTTISH CONCERT.

CHILDREN'S NIGHT. Thursday night was devoted to the children by the Timaru (Scottish (Society, and a programme consisting of 28 itsiris by 33 performers was carried through in the Unitarian Hall in a manner which reflected the greatest credit on the youthful artists. The hall was crowded with an appreciative audience. The items comprised dances, songs, recitations, pianoforte solos, and action songs, and the quality of the programme on the whole was of a high order, 'disclosing a remarkable quantity of talent at the Society's disposal. Where all did so well it would be invidious to particularise, but in the vocal it-ems, Miss Tui Salt's singing was quite in keeping with the ability she displayed in a recent performance in the Theatre Royal. In the ■ dancing, Miss Tuppy Sutherland's hornpipe was exceptionally well done. There were, however, quite a number of little mitea on the boards and all accomplished their part with the greatest credit. Those who took part were:—Songs: Misses Phyllis McMillan, Tui Salt, Brehaut, Mabel Sinclair, Mattie Bell, Gwen Ritchie, Cranston, and Connie Potts, and Master Brunsden; duet, Master and Miss Bergin; recitations: Misses Bergin, and Muriel Freeman; dances: Misses Hall, Howey, Wenlock (2), Dorothy Hall, Tui James, Tuppy Sutherland, Townsend, Avis Wenlock, Gwen Ritchie, Vida James, Gillet, Donaldson, Smith, Framptou, Enid Robertson, J. D'Egamnah and. Fitzsimmons; piano solos, Miss Maisic Fenton and Master D. Sinclair. Mrs Rattray, the Society's accompaniste, was assisted by Miss Flora Shaw and Sirs V. Keay, while Mr' Cyril Burns acted as piper. Chief S. R. Burns, who presided, at the close voiced tho appreciation of the crowded audience of the excellent programme sustained by the children. Supper was afterwards provided by members of the Society for all children, after which the hall was cleared and dancing to excellent music . by Miss Davidson. Mr .1 H.
