To-day's match between tho Maori soldiers' team and Canterbury was veryfast''and most exciting. Although Canterbury won by 16 to 6 the play surged continually tip and down the ground, and the oxatement of a very 7arge crowd of spectators wa,s kapt at K-ver point. : ■ Canterbury were rather lucky to win. Certainly there wa s not ten points margin of superiority. Canterbury. however, made bptsr-r usn of their opportunities than the visitors did. Barclay and Hall sewed for the Maoris, and Thompson (2), Fitzgerald, Mr-Leod scored tries for Canterbury, two being converted.
Arrangements Eiavo been made for the supply of light refreshments to spectators at the ; tournament at the Caledonian Grounds to-morrow. Play beirius on Anzac Park as soon as possible after 9 a.m., and at tho Caledonian Ground at 10.10 a.m. The evening trains for Asliburton and Fairlie will be delayed to suit the convenience of country visitors. Gold medals for seniors, and silver medals for the senond nnd third grades, will be awarded to winning teams, in place
of the photographs which have served as tror>Bue>j for the modified tomnampnts during tho war period.
