The annual meeting of the, New Zealand Rugby Union began at mid-mght, owing to the evening being taken, up with discussing rules. . - Officers were elected as.. .follows: Patron, the Governor-General; president, Mr F. T. Evans (Ohristchurch) j management committee, Dr. Crawford, Messrs B. A. Man-is, C. A. Mathieson, E. 0. Hales, B. W. Slade and K. Akers; Appeal Council, Messrs F. Cowlishaw, W. G. Garrard and G. H. - Mason; auditor, Mr Kember j representative in the English llugby ' Union, Mr Wray Palliser; honorory treasurer, Mr T. H. Jones.
It was decided that for the coming year, the Appeal Committee should ba elected by the management committee, and located in Dunedin, and that the Appeal Council should sit in Christchurch .for the nest three years. It was unanimously resolved "Thatthe Ranfurly Shield regulations be amended as follows: That regulation No. 3 be deleted and following substituted: All special challenge matches shall be played on the ground of the holder of the shield for the time being, but any affiliated Union meeting the holder of the shield in the ordinary course of inter-union matches, whether on the holders' ground or not, may give notice to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, and to holder, not less than fourteen days before the day appointed for the match, declaring such match to be a Ranfurly Shield Challenge match." To encourage school football, it was decided to' recommend the Management Committee to make a grant of £2OO to the Public Schools. Union.

Tile afternoon train for Fairlie will start at 4.4j p.m. 3 and run 45 minutes later than usual; tlie train for Ashburton will start at 0.0 p.m., running 27 minutes later than usual. Play will start on Anzac Park at 9 o'clock, and the first game -on the Caledonian Grounds is timed for 10.11 a.m. The first senior game will start at 10.22. Entries have been received from all the South Canterbury Clubs, as well as from Asliburton, Oamaru, and clubs in the former Mackenzie and Waimate Sub-Unions.. Forty-three games in four grades are scheduled, so that a long day's football is assured.
