CONVENTION TO "AROUSE INDIA,
Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. SIMLA, April 19. Lord Chelmsford has convened a meeting of representatives of all India at Delhi on the 27th to secure the active support of all classes regarding manpower and the development of resoiirces for the production of the war.
FOOD AND TRADE REPORT.

WELLINGTON, April 21. , The following is contained in a re--port to the Governor-General by the Secretary of State for the Colonies:— The Food Ministry reports that notwithstanding a substantial enforced reduction in the amount of meat consumed, there has been a notable absence of complaints from any quarter. Heavy workers are now receiving .'.upplementary rations of bacon, rendered availa-blo by considerable imports of American. Bacon not needed for 'immediiate consumption is being stored against the requirements of tho <ummer period. Substantial economies are being effected in the consumption of bread, whtch js on a lower level than during the same period last year. _ The Food Survey Board have organl lsed a national factory for the utilisation of meat residuals hitherto wasted This factory is now producing daily about a ton of black puddings, whinh are exempted from coupon restrictions, and are in largo demand. National kitchens are making rapid progress. Three fresh ones have been opened this week.
The Board of Trads 1 .-ports that a textile exports shipping committee has been set up to ration available shipping space among export houses, a difficulty havme been experienced in providing sufficient space for *h« export of textiles to distant countries
