COURT-MARTIAL.
SOLDIERS IN TROUBLE..

WELLINGTON, Apiil 2. A couru-martial is'hearing charges of insubordination againsfc Privates Alexander Baxter, Archibald McColl, Learraont Baxter, John Baxter and William Lit/ole, the three last named being members of the 26th Reinforcements, and the firSD named a member of the 27'ch Reinforcements. -
The other three are charged with having on March 27 while under detention, refused Ito obey the command of .their superior officers to change into detention clacking. The accused pleaded not guilty. After the evidence for 'the prosecution had been heard A. M. L. Baxter said ho did not consider himself to be a soldier. He was arrested and taken to the camp without notice. He was a shearer ?..nd had been arrested trader. Sedtion 35 of the Military Service "Act. He never took an oath or anything like one.' He did not dispute the law, bu'6 refused to do what he believed to ; be wrong. < John Baxtter and W. Little said their attitude on the subject was the same as 'chat of the other accused. i Alexander Baxter was then charged with having, while under detention, refused to work when ordered' ito do so. He pleaded not guilty. He also claimed Miat he was not. a soldier and had nolr, been sworn in. The verdict of the Court has not baen announced.
