SUICIDE AT HOSPITAL.
WOMAN HANGS HERSELF. (Per Press Association.) - CHRISTOTURCH, March 31. ..At nn mquest at the hospital on JMiza'ioth Pearaton, a widow, 49 velars of age, a certificated maternity nurse evidence was given "by Genevieve JY«lrIell, a nurse in the hospital, who said that Mrs Pearston wa3 a patient I in the eolation ward, supposed to be; suffering from scarlet fever. At 4 a.m. 1 to-day she looked in deceased's room and saw lier sleeping quietly. At 4.30 a.m. sho again visited the room, and ■"he found the door shut, and on entering found the bed empty. She noticed that the window in the room was open wide, and that~a sheet with on <3 end attached to the radiator was hanging ont of 'the window. On looking out of ' the window she saw deceased hangingnn the other end of the sheet. The body was recovered, but life was extinct. There were 41 patients in the ward. The coroner remarked that there was not the slightest Manve attachable t<o the nurse. Other evidence ehowPtU that deceased had uptjt spoken of suicide. Her act was to illness and worry, and a verdiet of. Kcicide while of unsound mind was returned.

Hirima or George i Ksirima (now at war) oil or ahoutl Aujrnst. 14, 1913'. did cause the death I of Mitai Aparahanaby suffocation at Victoria Valley." The jury added -a rider that tohungaism was practised both en the date. of_ the murder and for ,a long time previously in Victoria Valley.
