POTATO DIGGER TRIAL

AT PLEASANT POINT. Messrs T. Buxton. and Co.j agents for Messrs 1.. and S. Morrin, farm implement specialists, arranged a lorial of tlie Reuther elevator potato digger a$ Pleasant Point yesterday. It proved quite satisfactory. Several potato growers were present and closely inspected the work, and appeared more than satisfied that the Reuther digger tad come to South Canterbury tto stay. A special feature of the digger is that it shakes the potatoes out clear of soil and weeds, leaves them rm injured in a neat row on (the surface, and takes them out of the soil quite as cleanly, or more so, than is usually done by hand-digging. Messrs Buxton aiid Co. state that one of the diggers was sold to a. client' who knows the good points in a potato digger, and a large number of the diggers have been sold in North Canterbury. Practically all the machines in stock in New Zealand have been ordered. Messrs T. and S. Morrins Ltd. have been advised by cable that further shipments of diggers are on the Newby Hall, a steamer to arrive shortly. At yesterday's trial 'there were experienced potato growers present who were ready to find any fault wi'ch the machine, but they appeared to be quite satisfied with the work done, and that the machine would fill the requirements of potato growers for an effective, handy and easily-worked digger at a reasonable price.
