NEW SOUTH WALES. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WAR. SYDNEY, March 30. The Now South Wales Statistician's report for 1916 shows a decrease in the population of 22,000, as a result of'the despatch of 58,000 : soldiers abroad. The total population at the end of 1916 was 1,847,000. At that date the State had contributed 106,000 men to the fighting; line, and the subscriptions to patriotic funds totalled £2,604,493, i and : war loans amounted ito £35,250,000.
