SALE AND CONCERT.

IN AID OP Y.M.C.A. WORK. 'l'he members of tlie Presbyterian Bible Classes throughout South Canterbur v united in an effort to help the f.plendid ■■work of the Y.M.C.A. in. France, find also to extend the Bible Class work in the district. For this purpose a sale of produce, etc., was hold in Trinity Hall yesterday afternoon, and a concert in the evening. The produce, etc., was tastefully displayed in stalls, ranged around the hall, and a. large number of well wishers attended, with the' result that all the poods—a large quantity—were sold. Contributions were received from members of out'yinn; Bible Classes, and two special contributions of £lO each were received, from the Trinity congregation. The following ladies had charge ot :'nd assisted at the stalls—Refreshment room, Mrs Stinson, Misses Eraser, Crawford. McKay, Davie and E. and J King- Sweet and Cake Stall, Misses Mar-Donald, Harries, Davies, Morrison, Fyfe and Morgan; Produce Stall, Misses Shaw Bobbitt, and Aimand. For the evening concert the hall was packed. The programme was of a varied nature,, and suited the taste of the audience-,' all tlie items being encored, and the concert was evidently thoroughly enjoyed. The inr-hided some young members ot the Bible Classes, who acquitted themselves well, in Pianoforte. pieces ™>d rotations. A pianoforte duet by Misses "Robinson and May Brown, '.'A Spamsh Dance," was greatly appreciated. _ ine final item was a humorous sketch by "Mr H Navlor, • and was given in a manner that him bn-V : times. Miss Robinson and.
