A LETTER OF THANKS. 1 OALvKS FOR THE TROOPS. Miy Guininess, Mayoress, has received the following letter of thanlcs from Mr J. L. Hay, senior Y.M.C.:Y., Secretary," N.Z. Division. The letter is written from the front, "Somewhere in France," on January 30 and speaks for itself:— "Among a consignment of gifts received from New, Zealand yesterday was a case of cakes sent out by your Association. You .will be pleased to know that the cakes have arrived iu first-class condition and will not take long in reaching the men for whom they were intended. In connection, with. our work at tile front we have now quite a number of huts, and every Sunday aiftemoon we provide a free tea for the men. Next Sunday afternoon w© propose using a number of the cakes at these teas and the men will be informed that they have been sent out by yoiL We also have a number of advaiucecF dug-outs and I am sending some of these cakes to several of these to-day. It is really very good of you to remember us in tliis way, and I can assure you that the men will be truly grateful for your kindness." Mrs Guinnoss will be phased to receive cakes, etc., as she is sending one ease a month regularly, if she receives sufficient) support. , " LEATHER WAISTCOATS, . Mrs Guinness received the following letter also from Corporal PJ C. Humphries-, of the Auckland-Wellington Battalion. It was written from Sling Camp on January 30: — : "It was only to-day, during a snow storm, that I had occasion, to put on my leather waistcoat for tihe first time and in the pocket I discovered your note. I am leaving for France tonight, and so am taking this opportunity to thank you and your helpers most heartily for your work on behalf of our New Zealand soldiers." GIFTS RECEIVED.
