A French communique states• —A violent enemy attack before the village *' Aftenyes north of St. Simon, and at Hirst slightly drove back our troops, but we immediately vigorously counterattacked and,threw the ! enemy back as far as Grand fei- and Aiicourt.* A. new detachment crossed the Wallctto, south of 'the Oise. We progressed north •of Soissons. It is now confirmed that attacks onthe Vrpfjny-ChivTes front have be£n most violent in the whole rejrion of Tnvtnvn. The enemy's losses in these i nntless altempts have been very high. Several enemy coirps-de-main northwest of I'heims, towards Maisons-de-Cnampa«nc, in tlm A ,r oeourt Wood and in the region of St Mihiel failed. THE GERMAN REPORT. Admiralty—Per Wireless Press.
