GERALDINE MEETING TO-DAY. ■ A good number of southern \-isitors arrived last night in readiness for the Geraldino Racing Club's meeting, which opens on the Orari racecourse today, tho first event, tho hurdio race being scheduled for 1.25 p.m. Timaru. people will find the 11.40 train most convenient to travel by. The course and surroundings will appear to greater advantage than thev did a year agv when the country uas feeling tho effects of drought, and tho racing should bo at least as interesting as usual Three New Zealand Cup candidates—the consistent Ringform, the winner of last year's race, Ardenvhor, and the three-year-old Ayclifle—figure in the Coraldino Cup, in which Aycliffe will make his first effort over a distance. Another Cup candidate, Moidant, is engaged in another race, and-his running will be watched with interest, as his owner signified his dissatisfaction with Moidant's treatment at Kui-ow by scratching him for that meeting immediately the weights -apueared. All profits from to-day's meeting will be devoted to patriotic nurnoses. and following tho usual custom soldiers m uniform will bo addmitted free.
