RECRUITS' FAREWELLS
AT PABFORA. A farewell and presentation to two soldiers—Messrs Gibbons and Billingwas held at Ma' F. C. Andrew's hoard-ing-house. After the toast of the King, and some songs, Mr Andrews nresented each of the departing soldiers' with a wristlet watch accompanied by best wishes for a safe return after victory. Mr Hurlston, on behalf of thoir work-matcs. presented the soldiers with a breast-protector, hankerohiefs and socks, and Mrs Andrews presented to each a pair of woollen socks knitted bv herself. Both the hoys returned thanks for the and specially thanked' Mrs Andiews for her motherly attention to them during their stay at the board-ing-house. Mr Gibbons, who is going for the second time, and who is" an "'-Ansae,'' gave an interesting account of lighting life.and some very good advice to the The wristlet watches were given by Mr Andrews personally, and be also defrayed all cost of tho'send-off.
