CONCERT AT ORTON.

Misses Townshend and iNoiriaa opened botli parts witn a pianoforte duet. 'J 'lie fancy axe and club swinging items by Mr Cameron were a real tm.i, but the auctioned unsuccessfully demanded more. Miss M. Rouiston gave an all too short exhibition of two Scottish dances. The school children sang two patriotic songs and before the interval the girls, with prettily arranged baskets of foliage and bloom, sang '• Won't, you Buy my Pretty Flowers," and then fold their baskets', contents, kindly donated by Mr Hayhurst and Miss' Brookland. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Salmon and Miss Norrish. Before the singing, of the National Anthem which concluded the programme, Mr G. Shaw (who .presided in his usual hr.ppy style), proposal votes of thanks to the Teinuka performers, to Messrs A. Shaw and R. Brookland who motored them to and from Oiton, and to all who helped to make the concert such a success. By the sale of delicious home made sweets, given by Mrs Taylor, the* selling of some presents given by Mr Mason of Orari. Mrs Taylor, and other kind fr'ends, and the proceeds of a "number of pnns in a bottle" guessing conrn°tit'on brought "more gr'st to tl>» mill."
