On the arrival of the German liner Oberhamsem it. was reported that the chief steward (Stadia!) had disappeared after leaving JY-emantle. Subsequently a member of the crew was arrested and placed in irons. It is alleged that lie liad had a disagreement with the chief .steward and Jelled him with a bier "iiottle, and threw the body' overboard. As the tragedy was -on a foreign veeso] on the high seas thf? police are unable to take action. It is proposed to send the man to Germany :[or trial.
