FARM WORKERS' HOMES. (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, Feb. 25. Speaking at Hastings last night the Premier said that the experiment tried in the South Island of providing homes for farm labourers who paid a deposit of £25, and the balance in 25 years, had been a great success, and a similar experiment would be made at Masterton, where land had been purchased for the purpose. ' IMMIGRATION. Referring to immigration, 1 the Premier said the Government would continue the policy of attracting the right class of immigrants to assist to bear the burden of taxation, and get a good class of settlers ,on the land. WATER-POWER. With reference to harnessing waterpower, Mr Massey stated -that where the Government was not able to utilise rivers or streams for electricity or other purposes, local bodies should be given the opportunity to do so. The Government would not follow a dog-in-the-manger policy.
