APPROACH OF.THE EXHIBITION. A meeting of -the Council of /the South Canterbury Aft Society was held/ in the Technical School last evening. There were sixteen* members present, viz., ' Mesdames. Bowker, Cosfcello, Foden, Newman, Priest and, LloydJones, and Messrs Bowker, Costello, Ferrier, Greene, Newman, Paterson, Rule, Wicksteed, Young, and P. W. Rule (hon. secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs Grant and Pis&tt. Mr Paterson was voted to the chair. - A considerable amount of important business was transacted in connection with the forthcoming exhibition of : pi:cr. tures, etc., which will,,be openejfcin the Technical School on Tuesday evening, 14th inst. .An important alteration was made •in the price of tickets, to allow of season tickets being issued at -5s each, the holders not to participate in .members' opening night and private view. It was reported that matters; are working smoothly towards _ what\ .hoped to be the best exhibition of pic-~ ture? yet held in Timarn. The committee have the promiise of a very fine collection of loan pictures from various owners, and this section should proveoorf r the greatest educative value. Pictures are arrivins freely from artists I throughout Now Zealand, and the sub- j cbimrittees will soon be busy, with the work of changing ,and cataloguing -the. i exhibits.
. As very much of the success of the exhibition depends upon the generous supoort of. the public, it is hoped that tickets will be sold freely. Tickets may,be obtained from the secretary or from members of the committee./
