SCHOOL COMMITTEES
PLEASANT POINT. The monthly meeting of this committee was held on Monday evening all members being present, also tne headmaster, Mr J. Methven. 4.1. £? spond6nce was received from the Education Office, Timaru, statin* that one of Captain Halsey's mugs had been awarded to the school, and inviting the committee to send for italso trom the Pleasant Point Technical Association asking for a donation-- to its The chairman, Mr Laurenson, produced, the mug for the inspection of tne members and handed it over to the oustody of the headmaster. With regard to the Technical Association's letter it was resolved to grant the usual donation of £1 Is. The results of the euchre party in aid of tho library funds, and the benefit picture entertainment, in aid of the swimming baths, were reported, showing a substantial return in each case. On the motion of Mr. King it' was resolved to convey a hearty vote of thanks to Mr McGrath for his generous assistance. . . The visiting committee, Messrs Miller and King ? reported having found the school m good order, the Hardens being particularly satisfactory. On their recommendation dt was decided to attend at once to sundry improvements about the tennis court, eto. In order to procure funds for prizes it wad decided to hold a euchre party and dance on Thursday, the 9th inst, and later in the year to have a garden party, the details of the latter to be left in the hands of Mr MetEyen. Some discussion followed" with regard to the best steps to be taken_ to press on the matter-.of constructing swimming baths for the school, and it was left to the chairman to inaugurate a scheme.
