AUCKLAND EXHIBITION
AGEIOULTUBAL EXHIBIT. The prospects of the success of the oomihg exhibition in Auckland are de-. cidediy promising, according to Mr A. Macpherson, Fields Instructor for the South Island, who his just arrived in Wellington after having "been engaged in laying out the Agricultural Department's ex.hibiV.in. the .northern centre. .The buildings, he informed a pressman, .we're'practically, ready for. exhibitors to ~ commence the. i construction and -arrangement o£.their stalls. The three ma:ri'" buildings covered an aggregate ■of five acres, and no less than 1,000,000 -feet-of timber and 173- tons of iron had been _ used. In addition there was a plentitude of buildings to be used as cafes, kiosks and side shows. Many large manufacturrers had applied for space with a view to making comprehensive displays, and the "Government have on view exhibits illustrating its many departments of activity. The Department of Agriculture had a demonstration area' of over half an acre, which had been divided into 150 plots! No less than 213 varieties of grasses, clovers, forage, plants, roots and other specimens would be grown. Mr Macpherson spoke enthusiastically of the lay-out of the buildings, which added much to the natural picfcuresqueness of the grounds. He did not think the outbreak of disease in the north would have any detrimental effect oh the Exhibition, as very little was heard of it there.
