A dispersal sale of the : late G. C. Wheelers Roraney sheep and 1 Hereford cattle commenced nero to-day, when 900 stud rams and ewes were offered. Buyers were present from all over New Zealand and Australia. Bidding was extremely brisk all day, and the sale was the most successful of its kind' over known in trie Bdmmion. Fat cattle were easier in : consequence of a large supply. " Store sheep sold well. Prime fat lambs were firm and fat pigs showed some improvement. Prime Cat sheep sold well., but roodium and inferior ewes were rather easier. ' . Fat lambs totalled 3799, including a fab proportion of prim© quality. A good many lota would havo sold better in the store pens, to which several lots were transferred. Prime lambs were if anything a shade firmer, and unfinished and inferior were diffioult to fi*U; There were 2821 taken for export at 9s lOd to 19s 6d, 117 by butchers at 12s to 15a lOd, and 861 were passed at 7s 9d to lis Id, and some lots did not elicit a bid, There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep,, and the range of prices was —Extra prime wethers to 345, prime ]&s to 23s 3d, medium 15s 6d to 17s Gd, light 14s 4d to 15s, prime ewes ICs to 19s 9d, medium lis 6di to 14s Cd, aged and light 8s to lis, morino wetliers 13s Id to 14s 2d.

The supply of beef totalled 870 head and included several large conisgnments!of prime cattle from the North Island. .In consequence of the heavy supply there was a decided decline in prices, prime steer beef malting 22s 6d to 26s 6d, extra to 28s; medium 20s to 225, and cow and inferior 19s per lOOib. Some useful lines of store cattle were yarded but there was not much demand. Two year steers made £3 to £3 lis, two year heifers £3 7s 6d, three year 6teers £6 5s to £7 15s (passed), and dry cows 80s to £2 15s. Good dairy cows sold well at prices ranging from £3 10s to £lO 2s (id. Fat pigs met with an improved demand and better prices. Ohoppers sold up to 84s, large baconers GOs to 555, smaller 37s to 455, equal to 4d to did; largt porkers equal to 4Ad per lb. Medium pigs mode 20s to 235. smaller 9a to 16s, and wcanere 2s 6d to ss.
