' Delightful weather conditions and a good wicket favoured the match today, and the attendance numbered 14,000. Faulkner's innings waß folfowed with intense interest. Ho and Suooke compiled 90. Faulkner snored 204, joining throe others who. have exceeded 200 in test matches—W. L. Murdoch, S. E. Grogory, and R. E. Foster. He was caught ( in the slips by Armstrong. . An ovation was given him when he retired. Ho batted 315 minutes, and hit 26 fourers. His rate cf scoring was' faster than Foster's phenomenal innings in the 1503 test at Sydney. Snooke, who had been a comparative failure' so far, justified all the good things said concerning ■him by a iirie innings. V Ho .got most, of his runs by. oif drives. He scored 50 in 87 minutes by stylish and sound play.' Sinclair for a while appeared anxious for aggression, but frequently changed -his mind-and'nJayed back.
