We remind those interested in the event that the Oamaru Show is to be held to-morrow and next day. There is always a contingent of Timarn visitors to tliis popular show. As usual excursion fares rule from Timaru and intermediate stations, and the evening return train will bo delayed, leaving Oamaru at 5.35 and reaching Timaru at 9 p.m. On Friday the morninn; train Timaru to Oamaru will run nearly an hour later than usual, leaving at 7.50 instead, of 7.5 a.m.
A committee meeting of the Timam Operatic Society, to make final arrangements i'or the comic opera season of "Boccaccio," will be held at the Society's room to-night at 8. MOll- - night's practice was an excellent one, and augured a great success for the production of the opera. Mr 10. E. Tasker announces in this issue that he Jias taken over the ITair]io Hotel. Mr Tasker is well known both to the trade and to the general public-. His first house was the Melville in Timaru, and from this he went to the'federal Hotel, I'icton, and the Star, Addingtou. He is having extensive alterations" and improvements made in his new acquisition, and his conduct of the business will make for popular support. A land sale conducted by the C.F.O. Association, National Mortgage Co., and Mr R. 1.. Orbe!i. takes place tomorrow ia Xattersall's rooms at 2 p.m. Tha land, 136 acres of which are at "Washrlyke and 100 acres at Saltwater Creek, lias been surveyed and roaded into 55 sections, ranging in_ area from about half an acre up to 23 acres. The terms are easy enough to suit anyone, being 15 per cent, cash, 5 per cent, off capital each year for iive years, when other arrangements may be made. All unpaid balances bear' interest at 5 per cent. The land at Saltwater Creek is very near Timaru, :m:l that at Wasiidyke near Smitliiield freezing works, so that loth parcels are suitable to town workers.
