The " Daily Telegraph" in commenting on the cable message in reference to New- Zealand's supply of mutton to Britain, urges the necessity of defending the routes of the Imperial food supply sources. This can only be done by maintaining the efficiency of the navy at the highest point, NewZealand's naval policy recognised this, the Commonwealth's did not. IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE, Oct. 18. The Federal Cabinet has decided to f cable to the Colonial Office that it would be, preferable for the Imperial Conference to meet prior to the Coronation, say, about the middle of May.
