TEMT7KA. The monthly meeting of the Temuka. .oorough Counol was Held on "Wednesday night. Present;— The Mavor, Councillors McLean. Evans, Cakier, McKay, Gibson and Frew. Apologies wore received from Councillors Mcinnes and Hoi well for non-attendance. Correspondence was read—1' rom the Commissioner of Crown Lands in ro vesting portion of reserve 1069 in the Council.

I A large number of remits were re- . ceived from the secretary to the New Zealand Municipal Association, from j various bodies in the dominion. They I were handed to Councillors to con- | sider during the month.
j The "Works Committee reported j that the water-race from King street . to Davie street should He kerbed and ! channelled the full distance, and also i that the kerbing from Wood street to j "Wilmhurst road on Railway Terrace be kerbed. j The Finance Committee reported I that the payments were as follows, disj trict fund account £175 4s lid' and I drainage extension account £25 ISa 2d. Rates outstanding were £37 5s I 2d, ten per cent, penalty £3 14s 7d; I rents outstanding were west £l3 10s j fid, east £2l 9s lOd; total £35 6s 4d. Receipts from all sources during the month were £-11 16s. The -bank balances were—district fund, credit, £77 ISs 6d: drainage extension, credit, £207 Ss od.
The total rates struck within the borotigh for the current vear are as follows:—General—West £674 4s Bd. east £361 Ss 2d: sanitation—west £166 9s lOd, east £59 2s; drainage—wsst £344 3s 7d. Grand total £1603 8s 4d. The rate roll was recommended for adoption, and Councillors Gibson and McKay were appointed to sign same.
Reference was made by Councillor Frew to the recent accident at th" Hgh School railway crossing and he thought it should bo brought under the notice of the authorities. The Mayor said it would be better to wait until after tho inquest before approaching the railway authorities, and this was agreed to.
