HOCKEY.
MATCHES TO-DAY. Members of the Te Rangi Men's Club playing against Temuka to-day are requested to be on the ground at 1 p.m. sharp. The following will represent Avoca Hockey Club in their match against the High School girls in the Park Grounds this morning at 11 a.m.— Misses N .Sullivan, A. Shea, D. Collins, M. Courtney, K. Sullivan, C. Dunne, R. Bourke, L. Kennedy,, N. Murphy, M. Sullivan (captain), M. Darcy; emergency—M. O'Brien.
I Enthusiasts will be interested to I know that there will he several good i matches played on the Park grounds to-day ._ Ashburton ladies play Timarn at 1.15, and it should prove a good match, as the local team is playing up to reputation. St. Mary's men's match v. St. Augustine's (Waimate), / 2.45 p.m.. should ho worth seeing, and Timarn Men's Club v. St. Mary's Chili will also he played. Avoca v. Girls' Hindi School is to he played at II o'clock. A collection will he taken in aid of the funds of the Association. The South Canterbury Hockey JR.e- ---.' forces held a meeting yesterday, Mr '■ H. Preen in tho chair. Mr N. G. j Poison was thanked for attending to j hockey interests in Christchurch and j congratulated on his appointment to j the management committee. Mr 1-f. j Keith's resignation was withdrawn. The secretary was instructed to write to the Hockey Association pointing out that this Association cons*?c7er that the Committee of Management dealt too leniently with the disqualified player and that in future tho referees look to the committee to uphold their referees more than has been done in the past; tliis Association recommends to tho Hockey Association that the offender and. referee attend tho first meeting of tho Management Committee to a.nswer re any breach of the game. Mr J. R. Lloyd was accepted as a member. The secretary was in—- ; structed to reply to the Te Ttangi ! Club re the letter sent to the Hockey ] Association referring to referees.
