TEA AND CONCERT. Yesterday was the anniversary of the Wesleyan Methodist- Churcli at AYaimataitai, and last evening the congregation took the opportunity of celebrating the occasion 111 a hearty manner. Proceedings commenced shortly after G o'clock, when all present sat down to t-ea, round well-laid tables, spread with edible things, nice ana wholesome. Afterwards the seats were re-arranged, and several musical items were listened to with keen appreciation. As treasurer of the trustees, Mr Irwin read a short linancial statement, which disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs —it being announced that in four years the building would ,be entirely free from debt. The Rev. AV. J. Enticott, who made an able chairman, . said that ho had to con- : gratulate members on the continued i prosperity of their church, and thankj ed them for their very loyal support, Referring to the Bible Class, the Sun- ! day School and the choir, he said that I these had all proved very helpful adjuncts and were doing splendid service, and on his suggestion votes of thanks were heartily accorded Mr Ellis, choirmaster, Miss Ellis and Mrs McAulifl'o, organists and Mrs Tonkin for work in connection with the church. A feature ! of the social was the fine singing of . the choir, who gave a number of clior- . uses, the soloists being Miss Car a IJotiSi gate. Mr Gilchrist senr.. arid Mr Nelj son senr, Quite a novel item was an entertaining dialogue "Coaxed and Hoaxed," well-acted by six members • of the Bible Class.
