The Sayonara took the lead almost from the start, steadily widening tho gap separating the contestants. She rounded the buoy 7min 40see ahead of the Culwalla. The home journey was made under a fresh wind astern, the Sayonara finishing 13min Isec to the good. This is a minute and a. half more than the extreme time allowance fibe would be asked to give the Culwalla.
