SMITHFIELD GUN CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. Tie annual meeting of the Smithfild Gun Clubj held in the Hibernian Hotel last evening, was attended by oyer 20 members, Mr G. McCaa (President) being in the chair. The report said that the year had been very successful and' the season , had. closed frith a credit balance of £lO 2s Id., ..Twenty-nine matches held were allwell-contested, while the handicapping had been excellent. Mr D. Gillespie had won the president's cap, presented by Mr McCaa. A handsome cup presented by Mr J. O'Donhell was won by Mr D. Fraser, who would hold it for one year. The club had . also held five picnics, which had [not only proved successful financially and socially, but had also increased' the membership by 20. The. club's : thanks were due • to Messrs J. McCaa, J. O'Donnell, R. R. Randle, M. O'Meeghan, J. E. Reid, J. Ashton, J. Hole, TV (Oullen, C. Woods, T. Leggott, W.. Robinson, J. Shewan, C. J'ensen, S. Hansen, G. Watts, J. Sullivan, D. McArthur, J. McAlpine, T. ' 'Connolly and Mrs MeOaa. The report and balance-sheet were adopted unanimously, the chairman making special reference to those who had assisted the club, and also to the enthusiasm displayed by the secretary. .Votes of thanks were passed amid
applause to all benefactors of the club and to the secretary. The secretary mentioned that besides tile credit balance the club liad £lO worth of assets, and were therefore about £l6 to the good. Officials were elected as follows: Patron, Mr T. Connolly; President, Mr ti. McCaa; Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. Hole, A. Fibbs, J. O'Donnell, G. Ashton, T. Cullen, Randell, Woods, Milligan, O'Meeglian, J. Hall, P. Allen, T. Cain, D. Gillespie, J. Sullivan, and Williams; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr R. . Bart-ley; Haudicapper, Mr J. Shewan; Auditor, Mr D. MclCenzie; Shooting Committee, Messrs Brown, D. Gillespie, Robinson, Jensen, Manning, Randell, McKay,- Cullen, Woods, Mitchell, White and Lawrie. . It was announced that a match with the Timaru Club would probably eventuate on Good Friday. Seven new members were elected. After the usual business' was over, the President >rose and made some complimentary remarks about the secretary (Mr Bartloy) and his work, handing him on behalf of members, •a double-barrel gun, silver engraved. After the presentation those present gavo three ringing cheers for Mr Bartley and sang "For lie's a jolly good fellow." the recipient resppnding feelingly.
