THE NEGOTIATIONS. DPiess Aasodation-By Telegraph-Copyright SYDNEY, March 9. It is stated that the mine-owners have forwarded a letter to Judge Scholes definitely stating that they are not prepared to agree to a settlement on the lines suggested by Mr Charlton, and that as far as they are concerned negotiations are at an end. Judge Scholes has declined to make any announcement on the subject. THE MINERS' CLAIMS. Received 9.45 p.m., March 9th. SY'DNEY, March 9. In giving evidence before the southern miners' Wages Board, the manager of the Metropolitan Coal Company, submitted a statement showing that the cost of the company was £42,000 annually. If the miners' claims were granted, including an outlay of £15,000 to £20.000 on a railway through the mine to convey the. employees to and from their work, this sum must be added. The estimates given were all moderate, for he was confident that the men would screw the last drop of blood possible out of them.
