Mr John Hole rnd Mrs Tlo.e w'U 'iv leaving Timaru Shortly on a trip to the Home Land. 'J'hey will prou.iluy be away about nine month's. The Hon. J. A. Millar and party, together with his private secretary, Mr F. D. Thompson, passed through Timaru at 1.30 p.m. yesterday en route for Wellington. Bugler J. Burns, who won such high ecomiums from Major McDonald at the Kitchener cadet review at Christchurch, is a son of Mr S. 11. Burns, , the. poultry enthusiast of this town. Bugler Burns is also the soprano cornet player of the Timaru Marine Band, and is probably the youngest cornet medallist in the nrescnt ranks of New Zealand bandsmen. Mr G. W. Russell, the member for Avdn, who is suffering from nervous breakdown, has resigned from the Canterbury College Board of Govern- i ors, of which he lias teen a memher for thirteen years, and chairman for three. He states that the strain of his public duties has impaired his health. Mr R.ussell has reorganised the finances of the college since he took office.
