TLMAiIU .MAIN. A meeting of the committee- of the liinaiu Main School was held last mglii. l'reseut—-Kev. A. E. Hunt (chairman;, G. G. \ ogeler (nun. sue), A. btead, J. AleCahon, H. M. .Robertson, A. Wilson, J. Kadelifie, aud \\. iuirmester. The chairman reported in detail on hii interview with the Hoard of Education in regard to the sub-division ol the infant room; the need for more desks for it; and the desirableness of securing more assistant teachers, as provided for under the Act. —The action of the- chairman was approved. The lieadmaster reported that the attendance had been fairly good, the average having been 703.4, 0/7.3, 698 and OS3, for the past four weeks. Owing to the epidemic of measles, the average for the year would be lower than for the previous year, and consequently they would lose the last appointed assistant. He would bo sorry to lose the services of Miss Williamson, and took this opportunity of expressing his appreciation of the good work she had done. With regard to the request to the Board for the gradual introduction of the additional assistants provided for by the Act, it would be well to go into the matter in all its bearings at a. later date, as their views on the subject appeared to have been misunderstood. The net proceeds of the evening display given in the school grounds amounted to £lB Os 9d. It would be necessary td appoint judges for writing, drawing and sewing; to allocate money for prizes; to fix the date of the breakup, and arrange for the prize distribution. Ho suggested that the school ! should break-up on December 15, and j reopen on February 1. It was resolved that a sum not ex-

ceeding £25 be allocated for the prize fund. (.This includes sports.)

Judges were appointed as follows: — Writing—Messrs J. M. Millar and G. Moffatt. Sewing—Mrs Hunt and Mrs Buruiester. Drawing;— Miss Hall and Mr (jroun.

| It was resolved that the school break-up on December 15, and reopen on February Ist; to ask the Rev. l. Adams, vicar of bfc. Marys Church, to address the scholars., and the chairman of the Education Board (Mr W. M. Hamilton) to distribute the prizes. The Board of Education advised that £2 10s had been granted towards the cost of a new bell. The foreman had been instructed to report on certain repairs required at the school. — Received with thanks.

Mr Wilson reported that he and Mr Yogeler, had visited the school that day aud found everything in good order, and work proceeding satisfactorily. They looked for wants but could find none. The committee decided to again offer iirizes for essays or "How I spent my holidays." Accounts amounting to £8 7s 4d were passed for payment, and the treasurer (Mr Stead) said this would leave a balance of £69. It was resolved that the next committee meeting be held in February.
