He has taken a position with .Messrs Sims. Cooper and Co.. of C'hristchurch, and is to haw charge ot their shipping operations in Lvtteltoii and Tinuiru, wlueh will nvolve handling the various steamers running and to run under charter to .Mr 0. U. Scales, of Wellington. After routine business had been attended to at their monthly meeting the committee of the Pleasant Point District High School, dealt with the resignation of .Mr W. Thomas. .M.A., as headmaster on his appointment ti AYaimataitai. All the members ii: turn expressed regret that the school was to lose so excellent a master, ami they vied with eaelr other in ciilogie'on his successful conduct of the school. especially through the trying period of removal from one building to another. The thoroughness of his work in all .departments was dwelt upon, and also the popularity of the school. with the children, as shown in the high percentage of at tendance, and the success ot candidates in outside examinations was a|v,i referred to. oi. the motion <,fi Dr Patej-son an expression of the commit top's high appreciation of Mr Thomas's work in the school was recorded in the minutes.
