SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 27. Charles Kruse, aged 01, came up for sentence at the Supreme Court to-day for theft of goods from the Stewart Timber Company, where lie was employed as storeman. Mr Wilford for accused asked for probation. Kruse was'a married man with nine children. His Honour said he regretted he. could not comply; there had been too many cases of the kind, and the warnings from the bench had not proved effective. Prisoner must be imprisoned for. six months. A verdict of guilty was returned i-i the case against Sebastian Newson, charged with sending the scow Kona < n a vovage to I'alliser Bay in' an uusea worthy condition. His Honour said if lie did not think the accused had acted more through ignorance than through wilful neglect, he would have inflicted a term of imprisonment. Prisoner was fined £3O, and ordered to pav £lO costs. • John Philpot Wilson, who was connected with W. J. Noman in a case of theft, was sentenced to three months imprisonment. . The case in which Arthur I'rclcnck AVimsetb is charged with complicity in extensive robberies by James Henuiigwav from the parcels branch of the Wellington Post Office, "Wimsctt being employed there. was not concluded when the Court rose.
