THE WEATHER.
A MILD WINTER. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August i>7. In farming circles the unusually open winter has been frequently remarked upon. Though frost lias nob been wholly absent, it was never of very long continuance, nor at all severe. Rain, too, has kept .off till this morning, and the month's fall to date is only one and a quarter inches. The total since January Ist is nearly twenty inches. The spring and slimmer months will have to supply the remainder if fair average crops are, to be reaped. Feed of all kinds is now plentiful and farm work is well forward.
The following is the. Rev. 11. C. Rates' weather forecast:—"Rain is probable generally with freshening winds between east and south-west, and a rising barometer everywhere soon. The weather reports show gloomy and wet weather generally, with easterly winds of variable force predominating over the Dominion." ■—nan———— ummm ■»».
