Mr Tripp's property shade the road injuriously. The Orar. Gorge •road is also much cut up, and needs •patching. Tile road between Orar. and Winchester is weak m places, but tin.-, is being attended to. The overseer also reported on the damage and repair, to the Geraldine swing bridge. It was resolved not to spend any more money on this bridge at present : to notify Mr Tripp re trees: to proceed •with repair of the Orar. Gorg* road •,vhen convenient: and to leave the metalling of the >Yoodbnry-Peel Forest
road till spring. An application by Mr Austin on road formation at Orari was also held over. , The clerk reported the receipts for the month as £l7O 4s 3d, and the I credit balance at £lOl4 13s lid.
Mr G. Mac George, surveyor, waited on the Board to ask for a reduction of the demands made upon Mr Campbell as own<r of the .sulnlivided Raukapuka estate, in regard to creek crossings and roads in the estate. One culvert asked for was much larger than was necessary, and Mr Campbell was notrequired l»y the Act to shingle the new roads laid out. —Mr Mac George having withdrawn, the Board discussed the matter. The overseer said the culvert demanded would not be too large in floods, and tho Board determined to adhere to their demand that the roads he shingled. Mr Orford's tender of £■"> per annum was accepted for the lease of reserve 1 000. near Winchester C'ollerre. On behalf of Mr Began, emnloyed by the Board to trap small birds. Mr Mulvihill denied that lis had sold to the Board the heads of trapped birds. The chairman sal'! a 1 TTco- complaint had been made to the Temuka Bond Board. The overseer mentioned the fact that there were many unused roads in the district, overrun with <rorse. — Enquiry to lie made as a preliminary to taking action. Mr Mulvihill voiced complaints from people concerned iegarding th« condition of t'-e new road to the Hanging R"<--k bridg".—The rver*e<M- said the soil was a loam, and nothing could -be done at present.
Account* were passed, and the Board ndiourned.
