TIMARU POULTRY SOCIETY.

"With, characteristic promptness tho Timaru Poultry Society met last night to pay out prize moneys and settle up all accounts in connection -with, its recent show. There was a large attendance of members, and the president, Mr S. R. Burns, occupied the chair. Appreciative reference was made to the fact that while the society had started the year with a credit balanco of 8s it had, after paying all expenses in connection with the show, a credit of £3 15s.

Tho balance-sheet • showed —Receipts, £l9B 10s 7d. Expenditure, £194 15s 4d. On the receipts side the principal items were—Entry fees £66 15s, member's subscriptions £l9 ss, cash donation £25 las 6d, art union (sale of tickets) £7O 16s lid, guessing competition £3 3s lOd, sale *bf catalogues £2 12s lid. The principal items, of expenditure were —Prize money £B3 13s, art union (purchase of goods) £2O 7s, annual dinner £ll 7s 6d, carting £4, ■wages £5 10s, hire of Drill Hall £6, secretary's salary and commission £l4 3s, printing and advertising £25 2s 6d, Lire of pens £3 18s 6d, lighting Drill Hall £2 15s.

Mr J. J. Wilson, Of Rangiora, wrote congratulating the society on the success of its recent show and expressing his thanks for the courtesy he had received as an outside exhibitor at the hands of the president and secretary. A letter was received from an Oamnru exhibitor at the show complaining of an .alleged fault in connection with the birds of another exhibitor, hut after consideration it was decided _ that there was nothing in the complaint. The president mentioned that if a sufficient nnmber of passengers offered, ii drag would run out from Timaru to Temuka to-morrow.
