ITio prevalence of brown and dry rust in Ta.smauian potatoes led the Department of Agriculture to empower Inspectors to condemn the tubers suffering from these diseases. This is having a considerable effect 011 the supply, and causing uneasiness regarding the future. Out ol the 1.1,000 bags which arrived on Monday, 2000 were condemned, and the inspection was not completed. Local growers on the north coast, who last fear obtained seel from Tasmania, aNo find their crops seriously infected by rust.
