Russian newspapers protest that Lapukhin was not allowed legal right of speech, that- his evidence concerning AzetfV crimes was not admitted, and that the authorities are determined to prevent any light being tlirown on the sinister doings of the secret police. SENTENCE OF FIVE YEARS. Received 10.57 p.m., May 14th. ST. PETERSBURG, May 14. Lapukhin was found guilty of belonging to a criminal association, and was sentenced to live years. The sentence requires to be confirmed by the Czar.
