The Trades and Labour Council, at a meeting to-night, considered the question of stoppage of the LawrenceRoxburgh railway works, and passed a resolution expressing the opinion that a broach of faith had been committed by the Ministry ni stopping the work after the construction had been sanctioned by Parliament, and after leading people in the district to incur expenditure in anticipation of the early construction of the line. ," The Council considers that the promises made should be honorably carried out, and expects members of Parliament to see this is done.
