Mr W. It. McGrath Lad the misfortune to meet with, a painful accident early yesterday morning.'. Late oh. Wednesday iiight Mr McGrath and Mr Geo. Ashe, veterinary surgeon, were called out to an urgent case at Claremont, and when -driving home at about 1 a.m. Mr McGrath's horse shied at some water on the roadside, wn'th the result that the girth strap broke and the animal commenced bucking so furiously that it jumped clean; out of the shafts. Through holding firmly to the ' reins Mr McGrath was jerked out of the trap and fell heavily upon his face, bruising himself considerably and being rendered unconscious for about half an hour. The mare he was driving was cut about the legs so severely, having some of the tendons severed, that it is feared she will have to be destroyed. It is a valuable animal, and one time belonged to Mr O'Neill of buckjurpping fame.
