Just, beyond the mile both men took Ihe middle of the river, and a foul occurred on which both appealed. Thoroughgood was quicker to get. going again, and established a lead of sis lengths before Fogwell gob fairly started in pursuit. Though Fog well stuck gamely to I lift finish, he was unable to overhaul Thoroughgood, who won by eight lengths in ]Bniia 20 2-ssec. Tlie umpire declared Thoroughgood the winner.
