There is some, uneasiness amouf the maritime unions at' the way in which the agreement in regard to the recent wharf strike is working. The difficulty has reference to the re-appointment of union engineers, officers and seamen. The men maintain that the spirit of the agreementis not being carried out by the coastal companies.
BETTER COUNSELS PREVAIL. Received 10.40 "p.m., April 24th. SYDNEY, April 24. The Trade Union Congress after a lengthy debate, negatived the Labour Council's directions to the vnious to ignore the Industrial Disputes Bill and rely on strikes. An amendment was carried that the unions discuss and find out the true contents of the Bill befon- beiiifr compelled to uphold the Labour Council's decision.'
THE CONCILIATION BOARD

The Conciliation Board heard evidence in the general. labourers' dispute. The three Hawkes' Bay fret-zing companies were granted exemption it. being stated that- a. union had 'been formed of employees of freezing companies with a view of arriving at an agreement: covering the whole of the workers employed in freezing works so ar> to avoid having a number of different awards..
