SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. Mr Justice Button and a special jury to-day heard the case in -which Richard Elliott, a baker, sued the City Council for £SOO for injuries received in a tram accident on the Brooklyn line last May. The Council had paid £65 into Court in satisfaction of the plaintiffs claim. Counsel contended that the plaintiff was exaggerating his injuries. The jury awarded £250. A new trial is to be moved for on the ground that the damages given Ly the jury are excessive.
