The officials of six Trade eJnions associated with the Trade Unionist Tariff Refown Association, claiming to represent thousands of trade uniqnisi-s, have written to t lie Press strongly dissenting from- the anti-preference" manifesto of the Liberal Labour members of the House of Commons, considering it- principally significant owing to i-:s anti-imperialistic tone, ultraparochial character, and weakness of argument. - The letter declares that thesigners, of- the manifesto are not identified with the staple manufacturing industries l . Tlie protesters deny that tlie colonies made threats or demands, and condemn tlie 'attempt to belittle the importance of colonial trade. They express the belief that preference would .caura an immediate increase. of ten per cant, in the export trade, and give employment, -to 110,000 persons.
